HMís Award supports school scouting

Dr Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shibaniyah, the Education Minister, announced that the Governorate of North Al Batinah has won His Majesty the Sultan's Cup for Scouting and Guidance Excellence. She announced this at a press conference yesterday.
Dr Madiha said that the Scouting and Guidance Commission in the Governorate of North Al Batinah came first at the Sultanate level for the school year 2012/2013 and thus deserved to win His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said's Cup.
The Scouting and Guidance Commission in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah came second, that in the Governorate of South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah came third and fourth, respectively, while the fifth place honours were shared by the Scouting and Guidance Commissions in North Al Sharqiyah and Dhofar.
The Minister of Education stressed the importance of the competition in instilling values and loyalty towards the country and His Majesty the Sultan.
She said this competition gave a chance to a generation of scouts and guides to participate in various youth issues and understand their role and responsibility in serving the community.
The Education Minister also congratulated the Scouting and Guidance Commission in the Governorate of North Al Batinah for bagging the first place and winning the Great Scout Cup. She also congratulated other scouting commissions for winning the honours and bagging the much coveted cup in this competition.
Khamis bin Salim Al Rasbi, acting Director-General of Scouting and Guidance, talked about the importance of scouting and guidance, their role in the community and the future plan for improving this role.
He said that scouting and guidance plays a significant role in society through participating in health-related awareness activities, traffic safety, environment and community development.
