Muscat: The AWG-Mona Lisa Art Club will hold its fourth annual exhibition, Al Finan Souk- The Artists' Souk, from today to January 19.
The exhibition will remain open to visitors from 10am to 10pm, and will give a glimpse of the work carried out by a group of women.
The Mona Lisa Art Club was formed in November 2011, and has grown from a single digit club into a vibrant group of over 50 members. The members are from all over the globe, and the interaction among them gives birth to new and exciting forms of art and design. Each artist brings her own style of painting, her own culture and inspiration to this wonderful melting pot!
The few objectives for the Mona Lisa art club are as follows: to provide a creative environment for like minded ladies to share thoughts and ideas, to provide a platform for upcoming artists, to be instrumental and inspirational to each other to create beautiful art, to be a platform to encourage and support young Omani (women) artists and to donate a percentage of all sales generated by the exhibition to a charitable cause.
Since its inception, the club has held three extremely successful exhibitions and has donated to charities such as the Environmental Society of Oman and the Centre for Omani Dress.
This year, it decided to take one of its objectives to a new level by forming an association with the Scientific College of Design.
The college conducted an internal contest and the 10 best artists and their works are featured in its exhibition, thereby providing the students with a platform to achieve new heights.
The paintings have been priced between OMR50 and OMR250, making them extremely affordable. A portion of the sales will be donated to charity.
