Muscat: The Ministry of Health, represented by the Directorate of Communicable Diseases, Surveillance and Control, will resume the second phase of the immunisation programme for health workers.
The first phase comprised immunising the health workers in the intensive care units of hospitals by administering them the Hepatitis B vaccine, MMR vaccine (measles, mumps and rubella), Varicella vaccine (Chickenpox) and seasonal flu vaccine.
In case of some vaccines, up to 80 per cent of the staff were covered. The second phase will cover the health workers at the remaining units and wards in the hospitals. This phase is divided into
DPT, influenza vaccine
The initial part envisaged immunising the health workers in all paediatric wards at the referral and regional hospitals by DPT vaccine (Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus) in the beginning of November 2013 as well as influenza vaccine. The second phase of the programme was launched in January, 2014.
