Waheeda breaks into tears remembering Dev Anand

Yesteryear actress Waheeda Rehman was in tears as she remembered screen legend Dev Anand.
"He is not here with us today as I am unveiling his statue. His name will always be remembered in the film industry forever. He will be alive in the people's heart," a tearful Waheeda said.

Remembered as Bollywood's evergreen hero, Dev Anand died of cardiac arrest last year in London. He was 88.

Waheeda, who made her debut opposite Dev Anand in the 1956 film C.I.D. and featured with him in a total of seven movies, says the actor was modern yet simple at heart.

"One thing I noticed about Dev saheb was that he was modern yet simple at heart. He never had stylish cars, never had a huge birthday bash and no show offs," she said.

"When I did my first film with him, he was a star but he never made me realise (I was a newcomer) because he was so cooperative and friendly," added the 76-year-old.

Dev Anand's son Suneil Anand was also present on the occasion, and said: "I am touched that my legendary farther Dev Anand is being honoured. Thanks a lot."

'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' to release soon
Mira Nair's The Reluctant Fundamentalist is set to hit the Indian screens in April next year.
The Reluctant Fundamentalist is based on Pakistani author Mohsin Hamid's eponymous novel. It is the story of a young man chasing corporate success on Wall Street.

Post September 2011 tragedy in the US, he finds himself embroiled in a conflict between his American dream, a hostage crisis, and the enduring call of his family's homeland.
"It's an honour to be distributing The Reluctant Fundamentalist in India and we are thankful to Mira for trusting us with her film. We are very excited about the film's prospects in India and are keenly looking forward to its theatrical release," Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, joint managing director, PVR Limited, said in a statement.

The Reluctant Fundamentalist was recently awarded with the first Centenary Award and presented with a Silver Peacock, a certificate and cash prize at this year's International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
