Muscat: Not a day goes by when someone on facebook doesn't post a link to a list or quiz on the
popular site BuzzFeed, and on Wednesday one of the newest lists featured Oman.

Called "19 Reasons Oman Should Be The Next Country You Visit," the list by BuzzFeed staff members Rega Jha and Adam Ellis detailed why Oman is a great place to visit. With numerous photos and simple text, it displayed the Sultanate's stunning landscapes, people, architecture and food.

"For starters, it is jaw-droppingly, earth-shatteringly, mind-blowingly beautiful," the writers
noted, as the first reason to come here.

Majlis Al Jinn Cave, the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the Wahiba Sands, and the Mutrah Souq all were displayed on the page, as were photos of succulent meat and rice dishes, different fashions to be found in Oman, and the country's passion for playing football on the beach. "There is no sporting event in the world more riveting or beautiful, than Omani kids playing soccer on the beach at sundown. Without fail, everyday," read reason 12.

Jha and Ellis also mentioned the warm hospitality of the people and its development.

"As incredible as Oman already is, it is slated to become more developed, more educated, and happier, with each coming year. So when you do go, rest assured that you will receive a warm and smiling welcome," they noted in reasons 18 and 19.

By Thursday afternoon, over 20,000 people had viewed the list, and the feedback, as expected, was very positive.

"I like that Buzzfeed has finally shown there's more to travel in the world than Europe," wrote Lane Fair, posting from Oaklahoma.

Former residents of Oman were happy to add their voices to the mix, too, encouraging others to visit. Nicholla Henderson-Hall wrote, "Yep, lived there and it is awesome. Its (sic) a great, safe, humble spot.
Absolutely worth a visit."
