Muscat: The working team of Majlis Al Shura's Legal and Legislative Committee, entrusted with the task of studying the report of the Economic and Financial Committee on the Consumer Protection Law, discussed the legal drafts of the report on Monday.
The meeting was chaired by Khalid bin Ahmed Al Saadi and members expressed their opinions on the report, according to the internal regulation of the Majlis Al Shura.
It should be noted that within the framework of the study of the Consumer Protection Law, the Legislative and Legal Committee and the Economic and Financial Committee will hold today a joint meeting to discuss the draft law and the amendments proposed by the two committees.
The Economic and Financial Committee at the Majlis Al Shura hosted its 9th regular meeting of third annual sitting (2013/2014) of the seventh term in which some specialists and competent officials from the Royal Oman Police, the Capital Market Authority and insurance companies discussed proposals on amending some provisions of the Insurance Companies Law, the Auto Insurance Law and Capital Market Law.
The meeting, which was chaired by Salim bin Ali Al Hakmani, touched various aspects of amendments and the economic and legal justifications. The meeting also listened to the views and opinions of stakeholders on amendments.
The committee will continue to examine these amendments through a series of meetings with experts, professionals and investors in the areas of insurance and capital market taking into account the implications of the application of these amendments from all economic and social aspects.
