Muscat: Muttawar Omani Company, a subsidiary of Global Omani Development & Investment Company (GLORIE), has awarded the tender for its new residential mix use project to Larsen & Toubro (Oman).
The tender that was sent out earlier this year received entries from other renowned contracting companies. "It was a tough decision to make but after much deliberation, we felt L&T is the right choice given their portfolio of previous projects. We have worked with them in the past and have found them to be very supportive in ironing out issues through the course of the project. Their pro-active approach has helped the organisation in innovatively overcoming challenging issues both economical and project related," commented Eng Mohammed Al Ghassani, chairman of executive committee and Muttawar.
Design and architecture
"This unique project which will cater to the growing need of good housing solutions in Oman will be distinctive in design and architecture, finishes, quality and facilities. Simultaneously, the Muttawar board and its shareholders Salim Ahmed Mohammed Al Ghazali and Abdullah Dakhil Al Jasser are confident that the project will receive the required support from L&T and its other partners in ensuring that construction is carried out in compliance with best international practices and standards," he added.
Faithful + Gould are the project managers and Atkins are the design and supervision consultants for this residential mix-use development. This project has been awarded the 'Innovative Energy Project of the Year' at the 2011 Construction Week Awards, an event which honours the accomplishments of construction and development in Oman.
