Even after the new pedestrian bridge and an underground way was opened in front of the Usman bin Afan Mosque near Mawelah, people are still seen jaywalking, risking their lives and those of others.
People are often seen crossing the road recklessly on this stretch.
Recently, a jaywalker was caught near Al Hail by the police and made to walk on the pedestrian bridge several times as punishment for flouting the rules.
ROP statistics show that more that 50 jaywalkers lost their lives in road mishaps last year.
