Sur: An inspection team of the Directorate-General of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources (DGRMWR) in South Sharqiyah Governorate conducted inspection campaigns on drinking water bottling plants in the governorate.
An official source at the Municipalities Directorate in South Sharqiyah Governorate said that during the campaigns, four water bottling plants were closed as a precautionary measure as water produced in these plants were not complying to Omani standards and specifications and were violating Food Safety Act. Samples were taken from the water bottles of these plants on sale in markets in unscheduled visits and then sent to food and water laboratory in DGRMWR in the South Sharqiyah Governorate in Sur. The results showed contamination of samples with Coliforms Bacteria.
