Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development, represented by the Department of Child Affairs, in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef), organised a workshop on 'Training of Trainers on the Convention on Child Rights and the Optional Protocols to the Convention'.
The opening session was patronised by Brig. Dr. Sayyid Sultan bin Yarib Al Busaidi, Director General of ROP Medical Services, Deputy Head of the Committee to follow up the implementation of the Convention on Child Rights.
Brig. Dr. Al Busaidi said that it's part of the committee's plan to communicate with groups closer to children, such as teachers, parents, brothers and sisters to communicate with the maximum possible number of decision makers.
Thirty-three trainers participated in this five-day workshop. They were oriented in the opening session with some successful experiences of some countries and the related communication skills in training. The opening session also dealt with an introduction to training and training design.
Sahiha bint Mubarak Al Azariyah, Director of the Department of Child Affairs, emphasised on the importance of preparing Omani staff on training, research and work in the area of child rights. She called for training Omani teams that can train the local community and to include as part of the training theoretical knowledge and research as well.
