Muscat: Voters cast their ballots yesterday to elect their representatives for the inaugural term of the Municipal Councils.
The 104 election centres in the different wilayats of the Sultanate witnessed a good turnout of enthusiastic voters for the historical elections. The voting began at 7am and closed at 7pm. The number of voters who are registered in the electoral register stood at 546,000.
They voted to elect 192 members for the Municipal Councils for which 1,475 candidates, including 46 female candidates, are in the fray
