Muscat:
His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said yesterday presided over a meeting of the Council of Ministers at Bait Al Barakah. His Majesty the Sultan started the meeting by thanking The Almighty Allah for the bounties endowed on Oman, appealing to Allah to make such bounties continuous so that the country always enjoys growth and prosperity and that peace prevails all over the world.
His Majesty also reviewed local, regional and international affairs. On the local front, His Majesty expressed satisfaction with the efforts undertaken by the government and the institutions of the state in all the sectors for implementing successive development plans aimed at completing the basic infrastructure and maximising the utilisation of available resources for providing best services to citizens.
His Majesty affirmed that this year will witness the implementation and completion of a number of projects that will have positive impact, besides offering more social services for achieving a balance between the economic and social sectors.
His Majesty pointed out to the report prepared by the committee in-charge of surveying job seekers in different governorates and wilayats of the Sultanate and the accurate data included in the report about the nature of jobseekers, males and females and classifying them according to their qualifications.
In this context, His Majesty the Sultan directed to give this issue due importance; especially as there are opportunities for work at a number of state institutions, stressing the importance of enhancing training and rehabilitation work to give priority to the sons of this country.
His Majesty also highlighted the important role played by the private sector, the ongoing efforts to support it and enhancing its positive participation with the government in pushing forward its development march, the utilisation of investment in projects that generate job opportunities for youths, providing more scope for individual initiatives through SMEs and encouraging entrepreneurship culture.
While reviewing the development in regional and international arenas, His Majesty reaffirmed the fundamentals of Omani policy with countries of the world, and its reliance on wisdom and peaceful approach while addressing development issues in the regional and international arenas.
His Majesty the Sultan hoped for constructive cooperation among countries to support security, stability and development. His Majesty touched on a number of issues of interest to the homeland and citizens and directed the government and all institutions of the state to intensify their efforts to achieve the proposed national objectives, wishing success to all for ensuring further prosperity for this generous country.
