Muscat: Creative Centre for Rehabilitation will hold a play and art therapy session on every Thursday starting from January 31 to February 21. "Children aged between three years to 13 years of age can participate," the centre's official said while adding that art and play therapies are very beneficial to children who have disabilities like emotional and behavioural problems and those with speech and language difficulties. "It is a way for the child to express himself through play and art," the official said. According to the rehabilitation centre official, play as well as art is essential for children to develop physically, emotionally and socially. "It provides a safe space for emotional expression; children can learn how to express their thoughts and feelings in constructive ways, foster decision making and acceptance of responsibility, facilitate the development of problem-solving, coping skills and resilience, help children to explore and practice social skills, help children to make friends and learn about their ever expanding world, allow them to learn from mistakes safely, encourage confidence and concentration and help them to overcome communication difficulties," the official added.
