2013 Toyota Avalon makes its grand entry into Oman



Muscat:An exclusive event graced by the presence of His Excellencies, ambassadors and other dignitaries was the launch pad for the grand entry of the 2013 edition of one of the most prestigious Toyota sedans — the Avalon. A high-ranking Toyota team comprising Koji Nagata, general manager, Middle East and South West Asia sales and marketing division and other senior members from Toyota Motor Corporation flew down to be a part of the proceedings. In his opening address, Sheikh Mohammed Saud Bahwan, chairman, Saud Bahwan Group highlighted Toyota's popularity in Oman. He said, "Toyota has enjoyed strong patronage amongst our customers over generations. Many of the models such as the Corolla, Camry and Hilux are household names while others such as the Land Cruiser enjoy iconic status. These globally renowned products backed by world-class customer care provided by Saud Bahwan Automotive, have ensured that Toyota continues to be the favourite among customers in Oman."

The chairman thanked customers for their unwavering patronage and Toyota Motor Corporation for its steady support. "I humbly thank our valued customers for their continued patronage. I also take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Toyota Motor Corporation for their constant support, guidance and encouragement," he said.In a reference to current and future investment plans, he remarked, "I would like to reiterate our commitment to continue making investments in infrastructure and human resources to enhance customer satisfaction in the days ahead." Following the chairman's opening address,  Koji Nagata, general manager, Toyota Motor Corporation presented the all-new Avalon to the distinguished audience.
In his keynote address, Nagata spoke about the tremendous efforts and dedication that went into the creation of the outstanding fourth generation model of the Avalon. "This is Toyota's flagship model and top-of-the-line in every sense. There have always been a lot of reasons to love this car, its spaciousness, superb luxury and comfort and quality, for example. But this new generation model redefines the brand, establishing new horizons, offering even more.

"It has real personality, athletic, even muscular on the one hand and elegant and sophisticated on the other. Exciting and exhilarating, a vehicle that appeals to the heart. We are proud of our new Avalon. We feel it is a true expression of Toyota's drive to achieve ultimate excellence.  And we hope that when you see it — I should say, when you experience it, you will feel as we do," he said.Following Nagata's presentation, there was a dramatic unveiling of the all-new Avalon with lasers and lights. The all-new 2013 Avalon represents advanced sophistication. Inside Out. The industry-first Quadrabeam headlight cluster offers outstanding lighting performance. The day time running lights (DRLs) exhibit elegance and style. A stronger, more expressive front-fascia design with larger grille opening creates an aggressive appearance.

Premium interior
The all-new Avalon's interior elaborates on the exterior's elegant, athletic theme to create a premium interior experience that combines high technology and craftsmanship with an artistic level of sculpted surfaces. The panel is covered in supple, hand-stitched premium soft-touch material with the seam adding some creative flair as it goes across the dash panel. The centre panel is also enhanced with touch sensitive switches to elevate the experience. The driver is engaged by an Optitron-type combination meter, which produces a sharp, high quality display and 3.5-inch Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) colour multi-information display (gear position, fuel consumption, navigation direction, and Eco driving indicator.

The Avalon utilises a 3.5-litre, six-cylinder engine that features dual VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) to help offer superior power and efficiency by optimising the intake and exhaust valve events. This robust V6 produces 273 horsepower and provides the new Avalon with competitive acceleration.

The V6-powered Avalon offers three drive modes: Eco, Normal and Sport. The Sport mode adopts highly responsive upshift control and throttle blipping downshift control, which are adopted for quicker shifting performance. Steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters help actuate fast, responsive shifts while keeping both hands on the wheel. The new 2013 Avalon offers a long list of convenient, user-friendly technologies as one would expect with the Toyota brand's flagship sedan. The Avalon features a standard display audio system with 6.1-inch EGA (Enhanced Graphics Adapter) TFT touchscreen that offers audio system operation, bluetooth compatibility, customisable vehicle settings, rear-camera display, driving information such as fuel consumption, and operation of iPod and USB devices. The new Avalon features a smart key system that locks and unlocks the front doors, and a trunk opening feature that enables opening of the doors when the key fob is within a short distance of the door handle. The Avalon Limited model features a Premium HDD (Hard Disk Drive) navigation system that includes a seven-inch, high resolution touchscreen display that helps enhance operability.

Avalon is packed with sophisticated safety features which include 10 airbags  as well as  Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Anti-lock Brake System, Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Brake Assist.The all-new Avalon is a truly outstanding creation, all set to win over even the most discerning customers. Earlier in the day during a well-attended press meet, the all-new Avalon was presented to the distinguished members of the media. The new Avalon is now available in all Toyota showrooms across the country.
