Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi, the emirate that's transforming itself into a business and cultural hub, said it will build a shopping and dining district in partnership with LVHM Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton near a branch of the Louvre museum being built on an island off its coast.
Tourism Development and Investment Co. (TDIC), an Abu Dhabi government-owned company, and LVMH will complete "The District", which will include both indoor and outdoor shopping venues, by 2017, Abu Dhabi-based TDIC said in an e-mailed statement Monday. The project will have a total built up area of 370,000 square metres of which 258,000 square metres will be floor area, it said. The value of the project wasn't disclosed.
