Maybe the stars are conspiring, or maybe I am meeting the right people at the right time. I landed in Chennai with my parents' blessing and love and (after) lots of hard work; I have managed to do well because of that. I think it is a combination of everything," said the 16-year-old student, who had a short stint in the recently released South-Indian movie Karmayodha. "Even though I only had a few scenes, it was quite an experience to share the dais with Indian superstar Mohanlal in Karmayodha. I feel lucky to have gotten the chance to act in a commercial big-budget movie, directed by Major Ravi. I have always wanted to act, thanks to my parents, who showed me the way," noted Sanjana, who has also anchored several television shows. Karmayodha, is a 2012 Malayalam action–thriller film, co-produced, written, and directed by Major Ravi. It features Mohanlal, Murali Sharma, Saikumar, Mukesh, Bineesh Kodiyeri, Rajeev Pillai, Asha Sharath, and Aishwarya Devan.
The film throws light on the growing menace of the human-trafficking racket in the South-Indian state of Kerala and depicts the manner in which children are trapped by Mafia groups. It also sheds light on the international nexus of trafficking."The subject of the movie is very timely because it was released just after the Delhi gang rape occurred. I play the role of a schoolgirl, who is not aware of the pitfalls of society," she remarked.
"In the movie, I encourage my classmate to befriend and visit an anonymous caller, which marks the beginning of a horrific journey," Sanjana stated, adding that she was unfazed about facing the camera for the first time. How did she react when she saw herself on screen? "I went along with my friends and family. They cheered me on when they saw me on the big screen. But that did not excite me. As the interval drew closer, a few people started to recognise me, which made me self-conscious," Sanjana said. Talking about her plans for the future, the budding actress noted that she will concentrate on her studies but will never reject the opportunity to act if one comes her way.
"I had met Major Ravi when he came to Muscat. We are Facebook friends. So when an opportunity turned up, he asked me whether I was willing to act. It was an opportunity I could not refuse. Who could refuse a movie of Major Ravi's?" Sanjana is hoping to make inroads into the world of glitz and glamour.
