Muscat:  Following an impressive performance throughout 2012, Al Jenaibi International Automobiles has concluded the year with a 33 per cent growth in sales of BMW and MINI vehicles, compared to 2011. These results further confirm the importance of Oman for BMW Group Middle East and the continued demand for BMW and MINI vehicles in the Sultanate.

Commenting on the company's performance, Divyendu Kumar, managing director of Al Jenaibi International Automobiles, said: "It all starts with the product, and BMW Group vehicles are respected and renowned for offering technologically advanced engineering and innovative design that influenced the automotive industry. In addition, our success is not only based on launching new vehicles and increasing sales, but on offering additional value to our customers throughout their ownership experience."

Design and technology
Contributing to Al Jenaibi International Automobiles' solid performance was the BMW 5 Series, with a 146 per cent growth over 2011. The BMW 5 Series is a core product for BMW and combines sporting and elegant design, excellent comfort, the highest standard in efficiency in its class and sets the benchmark in driving dynamics and safety having achieved 5 stars in both the Euro NCAP and US NCAP vehicle safety assessment programmes.

The flagship BMW 7 Series was also one of the highest volume selling models. Offering new levels of luxury, comfort and power, the new and refined 7 Series model went on sale in Oman in October and has been a strong driving force behind the company's 2012 sales achievements.

A number of important design and technology modifications have been introduced to the new BMW 7 Series which give the car a stronger presence on the road and provide an even more luxurious and powerful driving experience.

The most eye-catching new feature is the new adaptive LED headlights featuring hallmark BMW corona rings and a smart accent strip, which projects a distinctive appearance both day and night. There is also keyless no-touch opening of the tailgate for optimal loading comfort.
The exterior changes of the new 7 Series have been enhanced with a new front and rear bumper, new kidney grille and indicators integrated into the lower section of the exterior mirrors.

"The BMW 7 Series is consistently amongst our best-selling cars here in Oman. It is the epitome of luxury, elegance and innovation, all of which are qualities appreciated and desired by discerning Omani customers," added Kumar.

BMW X5 sports vehicle
The BMW X5 sports activity vehicle was also one of the top performing models, with a recorded growth of 17 per cent over 2011. MINI, the world's fastest growing small premium car brand, recorded an impressive performance and sold more cars in 2012 over 2011.

Sales were led by the Countryman — the first MINI with four doors and four wheel drive capabilities — and the MINI Hatchback. The newly launched MINI Coupé and MINI Roadster were also strong contributing factor to the brand's 2012 success in the Sultanate.

Looking to the future, Kumar added: "It has been a great 12 months and we anticipate that 2013 will be another successful year for BMW Group in Oman. We remain committed to continue investing in our facilities, customer service and the launch of new exciting models."
