The mountain biking event, jointly organized by Oman Cycling Committee and Muscat Municipality, kicked off Wednesday, as cyclists forced their way through the Hajar Mountains. The cycling event, part of the Muscat Festival, started from Al Saleil village near Quraiat Wilayat.
The unique contest, which will continue for the next six days, will take 103 Omani and international cyclists through some of the most picturesque regions of the Sultanate.
After the experimental stage on Wednesday, the actual contest will begin on Thursday. The first stage comprises 162 kms and gives all the participating cyclists an opportunity to explore the mountainous tracks of Oman.
Omani cycling enthusiasts are excited by the prospect of watching a selection of talented local and international sportsmen at their doorstep.
