Muscat: Galfar trounced Al Khaleejiya Al Masiya easily by 9 wickets in an Al Ansari Group of Companies-sponsored C Division, 25-over-match played during the weekend at the MOS Ground No.1 at Al Amerat.
Electing to bat, Al Khaleejiya Al Masiya playing with 10 men was well placed, with openers Mukhtar Ali, 37 (44b), and Mohammed Yahub, 31 (26b), putting together 71 runs for the first wickets off 10.4 overs.
With their exit, wickets tumbled in quick succession, and Al Khaleejiya was bowled out for 137 off 24.2 overs. Skipper Mohammed Tayub, coming in at the fall of the second wicket, chipped in with 28 (21b).
The wickets to fall were shared by Rizwan, 3 for 33; Khalil Ahmed, 2 for 25; and Zafar Iqbal, 2 for 30.
Galfar responded with 138 for the loss of 1 wicket off 16 overs, thanks to an opening partnership of 71 runs off 8 overs between Khalil Ahmed, remaining unbeaten on 55 (43b, 9x4), and Zafar Iqbal, 40 (25b, 1x6, and 6x4).
A further unfinished second-wicket partnership of 67 runs between Khalil and skipper Sohail Iqbal, 32 Not Out (28b, 1x6, and 3x4), helped them to achieve their target.

Big win for ISC In another Al Ansari Group of Companies-sponsored 'C' Division match played at the same venue, Indian Social Club (ISC) registered an 89-run win against OCT Seeb.
Electing to field, OCT Seeb restricted ISC to 184 for the loss of 7 wickets at the end of 25 overs. Major contributions came from Ansar Ansari, 46 (39b, 5x4); opening batsman Shrey Wilson, 38 (27b, 1x6, and 2x4); his partner, skipper Pranav Mehta, who made a run per ball to achieve 20 (2x4); and Dhruvin Shetty, who chipped in with 20 (21b, 1x4). Sufyan Mohammed and Issam Othman claimed 2 wickets each, giving away 27 and 34 runs, respectively, off 5 overs each.
Requiring 185 for victory, OCT Seeb was bundled out for a measly 95 with only Sufyan Mohammed scoring 38 (31b, 6x4).
Ansar Ansari bowled a tight line, ending with figures of 3 for 6 off 3 overs, one of which was a maiden over, whilst Shreyas Malhotra picked up 2 wickets, conceding 21 runs off 3 overs.

MDF in contention Muscat Duty Free (MDF) stayed in contention for the Raha Poly Products-sponsored 'D' Division title with an emphatic 45-run win against Powertech in a match played at the Municipality Ground No.1 at Al Amerat. Deciding to bat, MDF scored over 10 runs per over to amass 256 runs off 24.4 overs, with a top score of 63 (36b, 2x6, and 5x4) from Rhiyas. Other useful contributions came from Sushanth, 36 (18b, 1x6, and 6x4); opening batsman Deepak, 33 (23b, 2x6, and 2x4); and Mohan, 20 (14b). Anantha Ramakrishnan was the pick of the bowlers, ending with figures of 4 for 41, whilst Prabakaran bagged 3 for 41 off 5 overs each.
Powertech, during their turn, made a bold response, scoring 211 for the loss of 8 wickets off the 25 allotted overs, thanks to an unbeaten 101 (59b, 13x4) from opening batsman Nidhin K. Other useful contributions came from Arun A., 36 (16b, 6x4), and Prabakaran, 31 (25b, 3x4).
Muscat Duty Free will take on PDORC in their last match of the league at the Municipality ground No.3 on Feb. 8. A win for MDF will help them clinch the title.

Stars Light win Opening batsman Irtaza Ahmed made a brilliant 118 (71b, 3x6, and 17x4), whilst skipper Mohsin Raza bagged 5 for 20 off 5 overs to help Stars Light register a massive 145-run win against Renaissance in the Al Ansari Group of Companies-sponsored 'C' Division match.
Invited to bat, Stars Light piled up a colossal 257 for the loss of 4 wickets at the end of the 25 overs, thanks to a 133-run opening partnership between Irtaza and M. Waqar, 48 (37b, 3x6, and 2x4), and a further 62-run third-wicket partnership between Omar Sarfaraz, 61 Not Out (2x6 and 7x4), and Irtaza.
Umesh picked up 2 wickets, conceding 38 runs off 5 overs. Renaissance, faced with a daunting 258 for victory, was bowled out for 112 off 20.5 overs, with a top score of 20 (23b, 3x4) from opening batsman Vijayan.
The two unbeaten teams Stars Light and Al Hail will meet in an afternoon match at the Municipality Ground No.3 on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, to determine the champions and runner-up of the Division.

Nayaz's ton in vain An opening partnership of 198 runs off 18 overs between Pradeep Nair, who made a blistering 133 (60b, 2x6, and 23x4), and his partner Feroz O.V., who made an unbeaten 104 (70b, 1x6 and 13x4), set up a comfortable 89-run win against Ernst & Young. The Raha Poly Products-sponsored 'D' Division match was played at Ground No.2 at Al Amerat.
Choosing to bat, Enhance Eagles accumulated a massive 279 for the loss of 4 wickets at the end of their stipulated 25 overs, thanks to the contributions of both openers. Requiring 280 for victory, Ernst & Young, who were docked 2 overs for slow over rates, did well to reach 190 for the loss of 5 wickets at the end of the 23rd over, with an excellent unbeaten 105 (75b, 13x4) from No.3 batsman Mohammed Nayaz.
The only other batsman to make any noteworthy contribution was Saif Shamsuddin 36 (31b, 2x4).
Biju P.K. picked up 2 wickets, conceding 26 runs off 4 overs. Enhance Eagles, who have completed their matches, are equal in points with Muscat Duty Free (MDF) and are awaiting the result of the MDF match against PDORC, scheduled for this Friday during the morning session at the Municipality Ground No.3 at Al Amerat.

MacDonald win Mott MacDonald registered a 6-wicket win against Majees Cricket Team in an Arabian Industries-sponsored 'E' Division match. Batting first, Majees, playing with 10 men, scored 169 for the loss of 7 wickets at the end of 25 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 67 (60b, 8x4) from Amir Farooq Ali and Mohsin Zaidi, 21 (15b, 3x4).
The bowling honours were shared by Savinraj Rajappan and Vaibhav Manjrekar, who bagged 2 wickets each, conceding 22 and 27 runs, respectively.
Mott MacDonald, in response, was given a rousing start by openers Shubra Talapatra, 73 (52b, 12x4), and Sweekrith Sajeevan, 72 (43b, 12x4). The duo put together 147 runs for the first wicket off 16 overs to help them get past their target, scoring 171 for the loss of 4 wickets off 19.1 overs.
