Muscat: Oman must had a disappointing  performance in the recently concluded Gulf Cup in Bahrain but Paul Le Guen's boys is one among the  strongest team in Asia according to Syria coach Hussam Al Sayed.

Speaking to the media, ahead of his side's Group A 2015 Asian Cup qualifier against Oman, Al Sayed said his side will have to fight hard if they need to win against the Reds at their home today. "They are one among the strongest team to beat and my boys need to really work hard to win here. They have some of the best professional players in the world. The inclusion of Ali Al Habsi, Imad Al Hosni and Fawzi Basheer makes them even stronger," Al Sayed said.

Syria arrived in Muscat on Sunday following a training camp in Egypt. "We had some good preparations for this tournament. We had some good matches in Egypt and also with Sudanese sides. So overall we are satisfied with our preparations," he said.

Due to the political situations in Syria in turmoil, the Syrian Football Association had to move their home venue to neighbouring Iran. "Despite all the conditions that we have gone through recently, we are going into the match against Oman with high spirits," he said.

"We would love to have our home matches in Syria itself and we request Fifa and AFC to review the situation and take a call. We had initially wanted to make Jordan as our home ground but since they are also in the same group it was not possible," Al Sayed explained.

"The Group A looks tough. As I said, Oman is the strongest team in the Group while Jordan also looks good but we want to make an impressive start in the tournament. All our boys are well prepared and ready for this," he added.
