New batch of RAFO pilots, cadets graduate

The graduation ceremony of pilots and cadets of the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) was held at Sultan Qaboos Air Academy, yesterday. ONA

Muscat: The Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) celebrated the graduation of its pilots and officer cadets in a ceremony on the military parade field at the Sultan Qaboos Air Academy, under the patronage of Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of the Royal Court.

The minister presented the aviation wings to the graduating pilots. He also presented the sword of honour to Flying Officer Hisham bin Saif Al Daghari, who achieved the top rank during the course.

The minister gave swords of honour to Flying Officers Salim bin Sulaiman Al Adi and Nabil bin Ali Al Thuhli, who had won them from the Royal Air Force College in the United Kingdom. He also gave appreciation certificates to several distinguished graduates. Flying Officer Nadhim bin Ali Al Riyami won the academic studies award. Flying Officer Hosam bin Yahya Al Busafi won the best sportsman award.

The leadership development award went to Flying Officer Said bin Mohammed Al Hajri. Flying Officer Nasser bin Salim Al Mashaikhi achieved the top rank for the transformational course, and Flying Officer Talal bin Ali Al Harasi achieved the top rank for the limited-service course.

On the sidelines of the ceremony and in the presence of Air Vice Marshal Matar bin Ali Al Obaidani, Commander of RAFO, Sayyid Khalid gave air-trainer certificates to several RAFO officers and appreciation awards to several officers graduating from the Sultan Qaboos Air Academy.

Sayyid Khalid congratulated the graduates for possessing royal confidence as officers in the RAFO. 

The ceremony was attended by several ministers, advisors, the Chief of Staff of the Sultan Armed Forces, commanders of the SAF, the Royal Guard of Oman and other security apparatuses, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence, several honourable members of the State Council, the Majlis Al Shura, senior officers of the SAF, RAFO officers, senior RAFO officers and trainers from Sultan Qaboos Air Academy. 

Meanwhile, Air Vice Marshal Matar presented aviation certificates to graduating pilots and military sciences diplomas to graduates of the Sultan Qaboos Air Academy.

The Commander of RAFO urged graduates to continue their efforts and dedication in carrying out their future duties, wishing them all success.

RAO commander returns
Major General  Mattar bin Salim Al Balushin, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman and his accompanying military delegation returned home after attending a joint Omani-Saudi exercise in Saudi Arabia. The RAO commander was received on his arrival by Brigadier Ibrahim bin Sulaiman Al Ruhaili, Staff Senior Officer, Brigadier Salim bin Mohammed Al Jahdhami and Director General of Administration and Human Resources at COSAF.
