Muscat: At a high profile function, held in the presence of His Excellencies, Sheikh Yahya Nasser Al Harrasi, wali of Muttrah and Sheikh Ibrahim Yahya Al Rawahi, wali of Bausher, at Hotel Muscat Intercontinental, Saud Bahwan Group honoured 131 highly successful Omani entrepreneurs associated with the group.
Welcoming the entrepreneurs, Sheikh Mohammed Saud Bahwan, chairman, Saud Bahwan Group remarked, "It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to this special event".
Highlighting Saud Bahwan Group's plans in keeping with national priorities he said, "In line with the direction and vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, I would like to reiterate Saud Bahwan Group's commitment to continue making investments in the development of small and medium enterprises in Oman and to provide all the necessary assistance to further their growth in the days ahead. I firmly believe that these enterprises will play a vital role in the transformation of the economy in the years ahead. Reflecting on the various steps taken by the group over the years he said, "As a responsible corporate citizen, Saud Bahwan Group has been actively playing a humble role in identifying and developing talented Omani entrepreneurs across the country. All carried out with the singular aim of cultivating a culture of entrepreneurship and to foster the progression of entrepreneurs into successful business owners".
Congratulating the entrepreneurs present on the occasion for their varied achievements he said, "I am indeed delighted with the commendable levels of success each one of you has achieved with your efforts, hard work and our humble support. The role each one of you has played towards providing a number of employment opportunities for talented Omanis is truly noteworthy. I congratulate each and every one of you."
The special evening had three Omani entrepreneurs share their business success stories. Speaking on the occasion Ali Said Al-Yahyai, of Al-Ahya Trading and Contracting Co., Bahla, dealers for Toyota vehicles, spare parts, tyres and batteries said, "We developed a business relationship with Saud Bahwan Group in 1975. This group was probably the first to spearhead the initiative of helping Omani entrepreneurs to successfully stand on their feet."
"They provided us a whole lot of support in terms of finance, equipment, training, product knowledge and more", he added.
Highlighting his present state of business affairs he said, "Today my business has gained an excellent reputation, and I have diversified into other businesses as well. Like petrol pumps, building materials, food stuff, tiles and marbles and more."
Jamal Thnyan Marhoon Al Tobi, of Murtafat Al Adasaya Trading, Karsha, too shared his success story. He said "I went through the process of studying hard, completing my education and then landing a job at a reputed company where I worked for almost two years. But I had the urge to pursue my dream. To become a successful entrepreneur".
"I got in touch with the Saud Bahwan Group and the group was very encouraging and assisted me in starting with a tyre retail and repair business in Karsha. It was during this period that I was exposed to effective programmes that focused on business areas like sales, inventory management, marketing and branding, product knowledge and more", he added.
Thanking Saud Bahwan Group for his success he said, "My business has grown and I have just recently opened my second outlet. And I thank Saud Bahwan Group for that".
Adding to the impressive and inspiring atmosphere there, was another successful entrepreneur, Khalid Thani Said Al Rashdi, of Nesur Izki Trading. Eager to share his success story with other entrepreneurs, He said, "On completion of my education I was employed in the technical field where I spent 10 years. However I had an undying passion for business. So I left the job and started an automobile workshop at my native place, Izki. I was just 29 then. I was lucky to get a bank loan of OMR25000 but when it came to knowledge, I had none".
"So I approached Saud Bahwan Group for help. At that time Saud Bahwan Group was the only company to have a branch in Izki. Here I interacted with their very helpful and friendly staff and received a whole lot of information in terms of parts knowledge, customer care, credit facility and more." As a message of encouragement for the entrepreneurs gathered there he said, "Today I have grown my business. I have repaid my loan. The strength of my staff has increased to 10 and my customer base has increased tremendously. Now I have also diversified into steel fabrication and building materials business. And have a total staff of 25. I would like to thank Saud Bahwan Group for giving me an exceptional platform to succeed".
