The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, will observe today at Intercontinental Muscat Hotel the Omani Industry Day, which falls on the 9th of February each year in commemoration of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos' Royal visit to Al Rusayl Industrial Estate on February 9th, 1991.
Marking the day reflects the government's belief in the importance of the industrial sector to diversify sources of income and promoting the industry as another source, to supplement the revenue from oil and gas. The Omani Industry Day is an important occasion as industrialists consider it an annual festive that brings them in direct meeting with the Minister of Commerce and Industry and officials in the industrial sector.
While marking the day, various topics of interest to the industrial sector will be discussed, views of the industrialists will be listened to and their problems will be identified with the aim of finding solutions to them, in addition to exploring prospects for the industrial sector and launching initiatives and ideas to promote the Omani industry during the upcoming period and reviewing some projects implemented by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in the five-year plans.
The progress that has been achieved through major industrial objectives will be reviewed, such as Omanization, the development of human resources, uplifting productivity, the added value, the challenges to the path of the Omani industry and the appropriate proposals in the current economic situation. The ceremony will include some new industrial projects, an exhibition of the Oman industrial products and some other related industry events.
