Muscat: ORPIC, with two wins from as many games, heads the leaderboard and will take on Future Pipes Industries (FPI) in the first game of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry-Companies Basketball Competition, whilst debutants Moka & More (M&M), in third place, will fight it out with Shams Al Tafani (STTE) in the second game to be held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Bausher, today.

Two matches were held on Tuesday; in Game One, ORPIC beat M&M 86-71.
In the opening quarter, table-toppers ORPIC went on the rampage, pouring in baskets and accumulating points, to take the opening 15 minutes 20-8. However, M&M, in an effort not to be outdone by the status of ORPIC, fought back brilliantly to take the second quarter 24-15, going into the half-time break.

With the half-time score reading 35-32 in favour of ORPIC, M&M gave the favourites a run for their money since there was very little to separate the two teams. However, ORPIC eventually won the third quarter 19-16. M&M, who showed signs of fatigue, let the game slip out of their hands by letting ORPIC run away with the last quarter 32-23, handing the match to the tournament favourites, ORPIC.

The second game was a closely fought match between FPI and STTE. There was hardly a point's difference between the teams, except in the second quarter when STTE rocked FPI 23-9.

The first quarter could have gone either way since both teams did not leave any quarter to the opposition. However, STTE took the opening 15 minutes 19-17. After the half-time break, it was all about who was going to take the lead. In the end, it was just one point that separated the two, with STTE winning 19-18. The last quarter was the same, with both teams fighting tooth and nail to take the game and match, but eventually, STTE came out as the victors, with the score reading 19-18. STTE, who are sitting pretty in second place on the leaderboard, took the match 80-62.
