Muscat: An Indian expatriate was killed in a road accident nearMabellah. The victim has been identified as Moorikkattil Manikyan alias Kunjappu. He hailed from the South Indian state of Kerala.
According to sources, the man was hit by a vehicle while he was on his way to the Immigration department in Seeb.
He was going to the Immigration department to renew his labour card. "Kunjappu was a good, sociable worker. He had been working here in the Sultanate for the last 25 years. It was a shock to learn about the tragedy," the deceased's friends said. "We are trying our best to send his body back home as soon as possible," they added. Kunjappu was working at a carpenter's workshop in Bidiyah.
His body is now being kept at the Qurum police mortuary. Kunjappu is survived by his wife and four children.
