Muscat: Ras Al Hamra Golf Club (RAHGC) will hold the 40th edition of the 40th Muscat Open on March 7 and 8.

The two-day tournament will attract the best golfers in the Sultanate as well as prominent golfers from other Gulf countries.

The tournament will be held at the Muscat Hills Golf & Country Club since the conversion of the RAHGC golf course into a high-quality grass course has only just begun. RAHGC thanked Muscat Hills for its continuing support of the blue-ribbon event.

According to the event organisers, prizes for total gross and nett scores as well as daily prizes that recognise results and golfing skills will be distributed. Players and sponsors will be invited to a pre-tournament reception at Muscat Hills. In celebration of the 40th edition, RAHGC has decided to include a professional prize category with a grand prize of $2,000, sponsored by Halcrow Middle East. To be eligible for this top prize, a minimum of five professionals playing together is required, and the best gross amateur will be crowned the Muscat Open Champion.

Looking forward to a fruitful and lasting collaboration, RAHGC thanked the event's past and present sponsors: Gulf Agency Company, Aker Solutions, SC Mustaqbal Tubular Solutions of Sumitomo Corporation, Galfar, Sulzer Pumps Middle East, Proscape, Ingenieursburo Gommer BV, and Halcrow Middle East.

The last day for registration is March 2. For further information, log onto www.golfclub.pdorc.com/MO2013.htm, email muscatopen@mail.com, or contact Mundhir Al Barwani on 99354768 or Gary Battersby on 99899706.
