Salalah youth’s murder case solved

Oman
: Dhofar Police Command has arrested a man accused of murdering a 16-year-old Omani national last week. The youth was a budding footballer, who played for a leading club in Dhofar.
The Salalah police had found the youth's body in Hafa beach. The accused has been charged with murdering the victim following a dispute between them.
Sources informed that the alleged murderer had tried to avoid suspicion by sending text messages from the victim's phone, saying that some people were threatening him. The accused has been referred to the Public Prosecution for trial.
Flesh trade gang busted
The ROP's Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations raided a hotel in the Ruwi area in the wilayat of Mutrah and arrested five Asians who were renting two rooms for the purpose of prostitution.
The police charged the accused with violating labour and residence laws. The accused are in custody and have been referred to the Public Prosecution.
Drug peddlar held
Personnel at the Directorate-General of Narcotics arrested a person of Asian nationality in the wilayat of Sohar on charges of possession, dealing and selling narcotics.
Earlier, information had been received by the police about the accused's illegal activities.
Following detailed investigation, he was arrested and searched, where he was found to be in possession of 1.94 kg of heroin capsules and 1840 tramadoul capsules.
Prison staff trained
Brigadier Hamid bin Khalifa Al Khanbashi, Director General of Prisons, presided over the conclusion of the prison staff's training course on Wednesday.
The course seeks to provide the participants with detailed knowledge of Prison Act and its regulations, as well as the management and operation of modern security systems, prison administration and about dealing with jail inmates in accordance with international rules. The Director General of Prisons honoured the participants for successfully completing the training course.
