Muscat: Opening the batting, skipper Abishek Ramesh scored a tremendous 102 and bowled brilliantly to end with figures of 3 for 19 off 5 overs to help Indian School Muscat A (ISM A) register a massive 164-run win against bottom-of-the-table Desert Cricket Academy (DCA) and finish the 2012–13 season on an unbeaten note. The Al Turki Enterprises-sponsored Junior League U-16 tournament of 25 overs a side was played at Municipality Ground No. 1 at Al Amerat. ISM A, opting to bat, lost opening batsman Yash Lakhani for 23 with a score of 54 off 3.4 overs. Abishek and Akshay Ashok, 21, were associated in a 104-run second-wicket partnership off 10.2 overs. Jayesh Kaushik chipped in with 20 before an unfinished 80-run fifth-wicket partnership between Imtiyaz, 62 Not Out, and Niraj Dipak, unbeaten on 29, took the score to 276 for the loss of 4 wickets at the end of their quota of 25 overs. Requiring a daunting 277 for victory, DCA could only muster 112 runs for the loss of 9 wickets at the end of the 25th over, with only opening batsman A.G. Anshuman chipping in with 36. Imtiyaz and Yash Lakhani claimed 2 wickets each, conceding 29 and 30 runs, respectively, to lend valuable support to Abishek. BDSM runner-up In another Al Turki Enterprises-sponsored Under-16 Junior League match played in the afternoon at the same venue as the morning match, Bangladesh School Muscat (BDSM) defeated Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) by 30 runs, taking the runner-up position behind Indian School Muscat A. Electing to bat, BDSM, with useful contributions from the top-order batsman, scored 185 runs for the loss of 6 wickets off the 25 allotted overs. Mohammed Asif Uddin hit the top score with 54, whilst opening batsman Mahbub Hasan, 40; his skipper Abu Saleh Musan, 36; and Mohammed Golam Zilani, 20 Not Out, all made valuable contributions. Nasir Mahmood, with figures of 4 for 25 off 5 overs, was the pick of the bowlers. PSM, in response, lost wickets at regular intervals and was bowled out for 155 off 22.3 overs, with a top score of 52 from Ahsan Sajjad. Other major contributors were Mohammed Umair Asif, 27, and Ubaidullah, 26. The bowlers amongst the wickets were Mahbub Hasan, 2 for 21; Abu Saleh Musan, 2 for 24; and Mohammed Showharwade Neshad, 2 for 25. Points: BDSM – 4 points (9 games – 32 points) and PSM – Nil points (9 games – 25 points). Pakistan School Muscat clinched the Khimji Ramdas-sponsored Junior League U-19 Tournament, with Indian School Al Seeb taking the runner-up position. Both teams finished with equal points, and the winner and runner-up were decided according to net run rates.
