PIA to reinstate bi-weekly flights to Sialkot sector

PIA had stopped its flight operations to Sialkot last month after a couple of its planes were grounded in Pakistan due to technical problems.

Muscat: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has reinstated its weekly flights to Sialkot by making special arrangements to help the numerous passengers travelling in this busy sector.

With effect from Friday, two flights will operate in the Muscat�Sialkot sector per week�one each on Friday and Monday.

"We have rerouted some flights to reinstate our weekly operations in this busy sector to serve our passengers from Sialkot since no other carrier from Oman operates on this route," Bashiruddin Khan, Country Manager of PIA, told Times of Oman yesterday.

PIA has rerouted one of its Karachi flights to Sialkot for Friday. From there, PK225 will depart for Muscat at 8:20 p.m. local time, reaching Muscat at 10:20 p.m. Oman time.
On the same night, PK226 will depart for Sialkot at 11:20 p.m. and will arrive at 3:10 a.m. local time. The same flight then leaves Sialkot for Karachi at 3:50 a.m. and will arrive at 05:50 a.m.

On Monday, flight operations will include the Islamabad�Sialkot�Muscat sector with a reverse pattern for the return flights. The weekly schedule will see PK259 leaving Islamabad at 10:10 a.m. local time and arriving at Sialkot at 10:50 a.m.

The same flight then leaves Sialkot for Muscat at 11:30 a.m., arriving at 2 p.m. PK260 then leaves Muscat for Sialkot at 3 p.m., arriving at 6:50 p.m. It then departs for Islamabad at 7:30 p.m., arriving at 8:10 p.m.

PIA had stopped its flight operations to Sialkot last month after a couple of its planes were grounded in Pakistan due to technical problems. One of its planes had experienced problems while landing at Muscat International Airport last week (on February 12), when its left landing gear collapsed after touchdown. All 107 passengers and crew were safe.
