12 couples to vie for Hi top honour

Muscat: Twelve couples will participate in the third edition of the Seapearls 'Made for each other' Couples Contest 2013, presented by Hi Weekly, at the Crowne Plaza hotel this evening.

The dress code is 'red and black,' the key tip is 'bold and beautiful,' and the essence of the evening is...love!

The Sindbad Ballroom of Hotel Crowne Plaza will today come alive with a celebration of love and togetherness as 12 couples get locked in a colourful contest to select the Seapearls 'Made for each other Couple 2013'. This is the third edition of the Couple's Contest, introduced by Hi Weekly for the first time in Oman in February 2011, as part of its Valentine's Day celebrations.

The finalists
The finalists include Aster and Adrian Pereira, Zuvia and Muhammad Faisal, Mr and Mrs Murli Pillai, Nipa and Samir Shah, Mayuri and Pranav Raigandhi, Sophie and Rowen Soldevilla, Neetu and Kailesh Asher, Leena and Gautam Trivedi, Anuja and Urjit Tipnis, Sangeeta and Sridhar, Ronak and Kuldeep Bhatt and Ritvi and Sumit Ramaiya, all of whom have successfully crossed the preliminary round held last week. The shortlisted couples were selected on the basis of their messages sent to express the hallmark of their love for each other in the run-up to Valentine's Day.

The prelims for the Couples Contest 2013 was held at The Zouq last weekend wherein the shortlisted finalists took part in round one - Share and Care. The participating couples, who came from different cultural backgrounds as well as age groups, were asked to share details about their first meeting as well as what they liked most and what they disliked about each other. The round brought forth mixed emotions of shyness, humour as well as bold sharing as the couples frankly expressed what most of them already knew very well about each other.

Shortlisted for the finals
Based on round one, 12 couples were shortlisted for the finals to be held this evening. At the finals, the judges, comprising Anisa Al Zadjali, popular fashion designer, Fiona Griffith, GM of Balance Health & Fitness and Dr. J. Ratnakumar, CEO of Gargash and Trade Links Insurance Services, will rate them on two counts � firstly for complimenting each other in a unique dress theme and, secondly, for smart answers in a Q & A round. The top-scorers would then proceed to the penultimate round (a task round) to select the title winner as well as two runners-up.

The main sponsor for the event, managed by Muscat Eventz, is Seapearls which has offered exclusive jewellery for the winners for the third consecutive year.
