|
Muscat: Oman Water Society (OWS) will organise a seminar on water resourses in the governorate of Musandam themed 'challenges and solutions.' The seminar will be held in the Wilayat of Khasab, on March 2 and 3, under the patronage of Eng. Ali bin Mohammed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources for Water Resources.
Eng. Zahir bin Khalid Al Sulaimani, Chairman of Oman Water Society, said that the seminar aims to highlight the most important ways and means of water resources development and seek new water resources in the Governorate of Musandam, as well as the opportunity to view experiences of rainwater harvesting and utilisation of treated wastewater to enhance water resources, the exchange of ideas and experiences in the field of integrated water resources management.
He added that the seminar will include presentations, researches by a number of specialists, key speakers from inside and outside the Sultanate, and a presentation of programmes and plans of some government institutions in the field of water, agriculture, environment, industry and tourism.
Oman Water Society Chairman further said that among the working papers that will be presented by Oman Water Society Chairman for discussion at the seminar is aptly titled 'Water Services in the Governorate of Musandam in General.'
Several papers Other papers include Oman Water Society Chairman's activities and future objectives, as well as three working papers by the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources that will address the water situation in the governorate and currently implemented projects by the Ministry and a paper on flood risk. The Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW) will present a paper about potable water services and projects being implemented in the governorate. The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries will present a paper on its plans for this year.
The Directorate General of Meteorology and Air navigation will present a paper on weather forecasting and risks of cyclones and weather.
