: Mohammed Al Nabhani won his eighth Oman Open Championship 2013 beating Saleh Al Zedjali 6-0, 6-2 in the final held at Sultan Sports Complex in Bausher yesterday.
Mohammed Al Nabhani's domination in the national event is not something new as he along with his brother Khalid Al Nabhani had been ruling the roost for quite sometime. Though Khalid was missing this year, Mohammed did not disappoint as he had the final under control to finish off in style.
Saleh Al Zedjali too played well but the crucial break points were hard to come. Claudia Enache won the women's title beating Sarah Al Balushi 6-1, 6-2, while Khalid Al Barwani beat Nevil Philip 7-5, 6-4 for Men's B title.
Speaking to Times Sport soon after winning the championship, a delighted Mohammed said he is now looking forward for the GCC Championship starting in Kuwait next week. "This win has boosted my morale and it will help me for the GCC tournament," he said.
Mohammed paired with Saleh Al Zedjali to win the doubles title as well. Rashad Al Hinai, undersecretary at ministry of sports affairs gave away the prizes to the winners in the presence of Mutassim Al Zedjali, chairman of Oman Tennis Association.
List of winners: Men's singles: Mohammed Al Nabhani, Ladies singles: Caludia Enache; Men's B singles: Khalid Al Barwani; Men doubles: Mohammed Al Nabhani/Saleh Al Zedjali; Ladies Doubles: Laura Schmid/Claudia Enache, Veteran's singles: Tinny Gallarde, Veteran's doubles: Madny Al Bakry/ Tinny Gallarde; Mixed Doubles: Claudia Enache/Samfescu Andrei.
