Muscat: Tony Walsh, author of the new book 'Walking Through History – Oman's World Heritage Sites' held a signing session at the Royal Opera House's Galleria branch of WH Smith.
The book is a unique overview of Oman's four World Heritage Sites; Bahla, Bat, The Land of Frankincense and the Falaj Systems.
Tony explained that " for many residents in Oman the fact that Oman does have several site registered which the which the World Heritage Committee of the United Nations consider as having outstanding universal value".
Asked why he undertook the research and compiled a range of photographic illustrations about the sites he said that "I had often visited each one and was surprised that there was no easy to read book about them. After agreeing to undertake the authorship and illustration of the book it was a personal delight to learn so much about these unique places in Oman, often directly from the people responsible for their upkeep.
"Akhilesh Sahadevan, Operations Manager, of WH Smith said that although Tony was doing the signing in the Galleria branch of WH Smiths the book is selling strongly already "especially at Muscat Airport to visitors wishing a unique memento of the stay in Oman".
