Muscat: The State Financial and Administrative Audit Institution (SFAAI) has urged a number of government officials to submit financial statement declaration.
A statement issued by SFAAI said that it has requested the officials to submit their annual declaration as per the Public Fund Protection Law, which mandates each government official to submit to SFAAI an annual declaration of their financial assets.
This request is part of the effort to ensure public interest by implementing the Public Fund Protection Law and Avoiding Conflicts of Interest Law issued by the Royal Decree No. (112/ 2011).
The decision states that this law applies to everyone who is occupying a governmental post or has taken up a permanent or temporary job at one of units of the state administrative apparatus. The government officials include members of the Council of Oman, representatives of the government in the fully state owned companies, or companies in which the government owns more than 40 per cent of the capital. The declarations are confidential and access to them may be only be given after prior approval of the SFAAI chairman.
