Muscat: In response to the directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said on the importance and the need of all segments of the society to carry out their responsibilities to reduce traffic accidents, Bank Sohar supported Royal Oman Police (ROP) in the traffic safety campaign through sponsorship and participation in the Traffic Safety Expo 2012 that was held at the Oman International Exhibition Centre in Seeb recently.
The bank has been significantly contributing to road safety initiatives in the country through sponsorships and participation in awareness initiatives. The bank also conducted a road show at the exhibition venue to promote road safety and distributed souvenirs in order to remind those who attended on the importance of road safety.
"The Sultanate has been very keen on educating the public on the importance of road safety in view of the significant increase in the number of road accidents in recent years. We need to adapt a mechanism to avoid accidents and reduce the fatalities on our roads.
The Royal Oman Police is doing its best to address such issues, however all sections of the society should join hands with the Royal Oman Police to inculcate safe driving habits whereby ensuring safety on roads," said Dr Mohamed Abdulaziz Kalmoor, CEO, Bank Sohar.
"Bank Sohar was indeed glad to sponsor and participate in the expo. We have been emphasising on road safety since 2010. The expo served as an ideal platform to showcase the latest traffic safety equipment, including fire safety machinery, medical devices, radar systems to detect speed, traffic light control devices, indicators and in-vehicle monitoring systems, accident and emergency related products and services that have a positive impact on ensuring road safety," added Kalmoor.
