MUSCAT — Oman Medical College is hosting the graduation ceremony for its first class of pharmacy students today under the patronage of Dr Ahmed bin Abdul Qadir Al Ghassani, undersecretary of health affairs, Ministry of Health.

The college accepted the first cohort of students for the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree programme in 2003. The programme is delivered in academic partnership with the West Virginia University in the United States.

The pharmacy students of the college receive rigorous education in classroom teaching and half-year internship in a hospital and/or pharmaceutical setting. The college has provided excellent teaching and other physical facilities and resources with the support from the government and the commitment of the promoters.

The West Virginia University guides the college to maintain internationally accepted academic standards. The event is being held at the Hotel Crowne Plaza at 7pm.

The graduation ceremony will begin with a procession and end with the students taking the professional oath promising to utilise their skills and educate the next generation of pharmacists.
