Muscat: The countdown to the weekend music fest featuring Bollywood singer Himesh Reshammiya is now underway. Fans of the popular Indian singer, music director, actor and film producer can expect a scintillating show today at the Qurum Amphitheatre.

Organised by ROAR Entertainment as part of Omantel's popular series 'Hayyak Nights', 'Himesh Reshammiya Live In Concert' promises to cater to music lovers from different segments of the society.

Reshammiya is all set to rock the city with his repertoire of songs from various genres that have won him a multitude of fans since he first shot into the limelight. The evening will also feature Vinit Singh and Anvesha Dutta, who will present foot-tapping music to woo Muscat's music buffs.

Reshammiya will be in his elements. He plans to sing popular songs from his successful album Aap Ka Suroor, as well as other catchy numbers such as Ashiq Banaya Aapne, Tera Tera Tera Suroor, Main Jahan Rahun, Tere Naam, Ek Baar Aaja Aaja and Teri Meri Prem Kahani from Bodyguard. Songs from successful films such as Son of Sardar, Khiladi 786 and Bol Bachchan will also be a highlight of the Muscat show.

Reshammiya has won several awards, including the Zee Cine Award in 2003 for Best Music Director for the film 'Tere Naam'; Filmfare Award and Zee Cine Award for Best Playback Singer for the film 'Ashiq Banaya Aapne'; Young Achievers Award from the Indo-American Society for the film 'Ashiq Banya Aapne'; Screen Award in 2003 for Best Music Director; and IIFA Award in 2006 for Best Playback Singer for the film 'Ashiq Banaya Aapne'. He has also been honoured by the Rotary Club and has received the 'Humlog Award' for his outstanding services in the field of Indian film music.

Reshammiya first entered the Hindi music scene when popular Bollywood actor Salman Khan gave him a break as a music director for the movie Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, along with composers Sajid-Wajid and Jatin Lalit. Following this, Salman Khan and Reshammiya shared many successful film albums, including Yeh Hai Jalwa, and Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge.

Reshammiya savoured his first success as a music director with the 2003 film Tere Naam. After a series of successes as a music director for films, he began playback singing with the film Aashiq Banaya Aapne. The songs from the movie became very popular and established him as an exciting new phenomenon in the industry, with fans lapping up his style and voice.

As a singer, he has sung songs such as Tera Suroor, Zara Jhoom Jhoom and Tanhaiyan, which found an instant connect with both young and old music lovers, making him a success in the film industry.

Adept at composing and singing, he soon branched into acting and made his debut with the film Aap Kaa Surroor - The Real Luv Story. He also has television production to his credit, having produced serials such as Amar Prem and Andaaz on Zee TV.

Since then, he has been actively involved in mentoring and judging the singing competition Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge on Zee TV.  He is also the team captain, judge on STAR Plus' show Music Ka Maha Muqqabla for the team Himesh's Warriors. Reshammiya is also a judge on the reality show Sur Kshetra.
