Muscat municipality confiscates damaged Turkish sweets shipment

Muscat: A source in Muscat municipality said that officials, in collaboration with Sultan Qaboos Port authorities and ministry of health officers, confiscated around 880 cartons that contained varieties of Turkish sweets which were damaged and not fit for consumption.

The source added that the health inspection office of Sultan Qaboos port, in collaboration with ministry of agriculture and fisheries officers, confiscated 1,137 damaged cartons of Turkish sweets last month. The goods were damaged due to poor shipment and excess exposure to sunlight.

Muscat Municipality also said it conducted 618 inspections from August 13 to August 15, which resulted in the closure of three shops and registration of 67 violations of health laws.
