Salalah, the capital city of Oman's Dhofar region is located to the south of Oman. It is about a thousand kilometers from Muscat near the Yemeni border. It is the land of frankincense which was traded pound for pound with gold.

Dhofar's prosperity was built on this precious aromatic commodity, traded throughout Arabia, India and Europe. Dhofar frankincense was and is still the best in the world and is historically known to be the centre of the lucrative frankincense trade.

The main attraction of Salalah is its cool weather and the lush green ambience gives you one more reason to escape from the scorching desert heat and golden sands. It is the perfect getaway to escape from the hectic daily routine and relax yourselves.

It is commendable that Salalah remains greener throughout the year and is at its prime during Khareef (monsoon) which is from June to September. The A 4X4 is a must as most sites of interest lie off the road.
