Theme park to accommodate 3,000 visitors

Muscat: The FBF group of companies and Arab Malaysia Development Company (AMDC) have signed an agreement to develop 'Majarat Oman' — a mega indoor theme park to be constructed within Al Sawadi Beach Resort premises.

Majarat Oman, strategically located at Al Sawadi, halfway between Muscat and Sohar, will be able to accommodate 3,000 visitors a day or half a million people in a year, Syed Asad Ali, managing partner of AMDC told journalists, after the signing ceremony.

"We are looking at 350,000 domestic visitors and 150,000 foreign tourists," he added.
Comprising four exciting zones, which will include Alien Colony, Fuzzie's World, Space Station and Neptune Water Park, Majarat Oman will be Oman's largest indoor themed entertainment facility.

The project cost is estimated at OMR40 million and Omani and Malaysian pension funds have evinced interest in investing in the project. "We will finalise the financial closure within two months."

The park is coming up in an area of 25,000 square meters. The theme park plans to charge $30-$40 as entry fee for a visitor.   

The Sanderson group from Australia is the design and build consultants of the project. Asad Ali said the project's consultants are now starting the final design and the Ministry of
Tourism has already given provisional approval for the project.

The agreement was signed by His Highness Sayyid Fatik bin Fahr Al Said, while Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jabri, representative of the AMDC signed on behalf of his company.
300 permanent jobs

Ahmed Al Jabri, from the Arabian Malaysian Development Company said that the water park, expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2016, will create more than 300 permanent jobs and many part time jobs for Omanis. The project will also provide great opportunities for small and medium enterprises.

Visitors to Majarat Oman will enjoy a number of Oman's firsts that will take them through a journey of adrenaline pumping rides, unforgettable themed experiences and thrilling live performances and shows.With the planned selection of rides, water park, entertainment, retail, new concept dining experiences and cinema Majarat Oman has offerings for every member of the family, young and old, from 3 to 93.

Majarat Oman, which offers the visitors the excitement of an unforgettable journey with full of fun thrills, speed and adventure, also intends to include conference and party facilities to incorporate corporate events and private parties within the park. Majarat Oman's planned soft opening is targeted for first quarter of 2016.

Arab Malaysia Development Company was established in 2011. It has interests in real estate development, hospitality and family entertainment centers. Majarat Oman is the first undertaking by the company in Oman, which shall be developed by Amusement Cities, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) formed by Arab Malaysia Development Company.
