Muscat: NPA Events, who have been bringing a variety of quality entertainment shows to Oman over the years, has yet another treat in store for music enthusiasts with world-renowned singer Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Live in Concert, along with his troupe of 18 musicians, for the first time in Oman.

The show will be held on  January 10, 2013 at the City Amphitheatre, Qurum.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, an acclaimed singer primarily of devotional qawwali songs, also excels in ghazals and light music. He has made his mark as a Bollywood playback singer and is considered as one of the very high profile artistes in his genre.

A nephew of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the gifted Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan gave his first public performance at the age of 11, when both toured the UK together in 1985. He performed solo ghazals, Mukh Tera Sohneya Sharab Nalon Changa Ae and Gin Gin Taare Lang Gaiyaan Rattaan, in addition to singing with the qawwali troupe.

In 1997, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan debuted in Lollywood films with the song Kisi Roz Milo Hamein Sham Dhaley for the film Mard Jeenay Nahi Detay. He sang several songs such as Tere Yaad Verdaya Paindey Hain for the film Harjaai, Gunahgaar Hain Hum for the film Bhai Log. His song Koi Dil Mein from the Lollywood film Tamanna won an award at the 14th London Asian Film Festival for the Best Music Talent in 2012.

He debuted as a playback singer with the Bollywood movie Paap in 2004, featuring the hit song, Mann Ki Lagan. His song Tere Mast Mast Do Nain from the film Dabangg won the Big Star Entertainment Award, Mirchi Music Award, 2011 IIFA Award and the Apsara Award for best playback singer. The song Saida from My Name is Khan won the Mirchi Music Award for best song in Sufi Tradition. He is also known for his Bollywood hit songs such as Saaiyaan from the movie Heroine, Teri Meri from Bodyguard, Main Jahan Rahoon from Namaste London and Tum Jo Aaye from Once Upon A Time in Mumbai. His song Aaj Din Chadheya from the movie Love Aaj Kal won the Star Screen Award for Best Male Playback Singer in 2010.

Working in collaboration with Eddie Vedder of the American rock band Pearl Jam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan together with Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan contributed to the soundtrack of the 1995 Hollywood film Dead Man Walking. In 2002, he worked on the soundtrack of The Four Feathers in collaboration with the American composer of orchestral and film music, James Horner. In 2002, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan collaborated with The Derek Trucks band on the song Maki Madni for Trucks' album Joyful Noise. In 2011, his vocals were featured on the soundtrack of Mel Gibson's Apocalypto.

In 2010, he compiled the music for four albums, Rahat – The Very Best of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan,  Forever — Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Bhanwar — Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Others, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan — The Best of Bollywood and More.

In April 2012 Rahat toured the UK, performing at Wembley Arena and the Manchester Arena playing to a combined audience of over 20,000 people.  

He has recently concluded another tour of the UK and Europe, performing 15 shows in London, Leicester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Paris, Frankfurt, Barcelona, Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Zurich and Milan, among other places.

The City Amphitheatre in Qurum will soon reverberate to the melodious sounds of Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and his troupe.
