Whopping response to ISC tourney

Muscat: The ISC-Muscat Pharmacy Open Junior Tennis Tournament has received a whopping response, a press note from the organisers, the Indian Social Club Muscat said.

Players from five nationalities including Oman's top prospects have entered the tournament which got underway last evening with qualifying rounds in the boys' under-14 singles which has attracted 38 entries.  We have received more than 130 entries, said a spokesman for the organisers.

Oman's top junior boys Younis Al Rawahi, Abdullah Al Barwani, Zakariya Al Suleimani will battle for top honours alongside Nevil Philips, Kenneth Vaz, Armaan SattikarSubash Pillai, Amaan Kazi, Ayaan Malhotra, Hassan Haider and Sanskar Dubey.

The draws for the tournament were held at the ISC premises in the presence of the organising committee members and the technical committee.  Nevil Philips gets the top billing in the boys' under-18 singles with Younis Al Rawahi as the No. 2 seed.  In the under-14 category, Amaan Kazi is the No. 1 seed with Abdullah Al Barwani as the second seed.  Ayaan Malhotra is the No. 1 seed in the boys' under-12 section with Hassan Haider the No. 2 seed. 

Top seed Omani player Samar bint Madni Al Bakri will defend the girls' under-18 singles title with Erica Vaz as seed No. 2.  Another bright Omani prospect, Maryam Al Balushi gets top billing in the under-14 singles where Rupsha Debnath is seeded two.  Vivek Kolluru is the top seed in the under-10 singles with Rayyan Sajid the No. 2 seed.

The tournament is powered by Horlicks and Pocari Sweat and co-sponsored by Supa Sportsman LLC and Khimji's Watches Division.
