ISC Tamil wing celebrates Pongal Festival

Salalah: Indian Social Club (ISC) Tamil Wing held 'Pongal Vizha' (Pongal Festival) at their premises in Salalah. The event was chaired by Dr. Amanullah, convenor of the Tamil Wing. N. Balaji, co-convenor, welcomed the gathering and introduced the special guests. I. Julius Sundararaj introduced the Vijay TV Star Nite singers to the audience.

Mr.Manpreet Singh, the chief guest and president of Indian Social Club Salalah, delivered the key message in which he explained the importance of South Indian harvest festival.

The audience at the Grand Pongal musical night were entertained by a variety of music including classical, semi-classical and other genres. Vijay TV Super singers namely P.Saishran, R. Madhu and Ganesh Prabhu performed with Tamil Wing Children. The singers sang hit numbers from both Kollywood and Bollywood movies.

Tamil teachers were felicitated for being part of the programme which has been successfully conducted free of cost by Tamil Wing since May 2012. The winners of the Pongal literary contest were awarded trophies and certificates by Manpreet Singh.

The annual report was presented by Dr. Amanullah who explained the voluntary services offered by ISC Tamil Wing to the Indian labour force and thanked the role of sponsors to achieve this goal. About 3,500 participants took part in the event which continued till midnight.
