Muscat: Light to moderate rainfall was witnessed in different parts of the Sultanate on Sunday.

In the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, light rains fell in the wilayats of Izki, Buhla and Al Hamra. In the Al Dhahirah Governorate, light showers were experienced in the Wilayat of Ibri. Light rains also fell in the wilayats of Al Mudhaibi, Ibra and Wadi Bani Khalid in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate.

According to the Oman meteorological department, Bidiyah witnessed 4.2mm rains, Ibri 3.0mm, Qalhat 2.4mm, Madha 2mm, Samayil 1.4mm, Dibba 1mm and Ibra 1mm.

In Muscat also, light rains fell in Mabelah, Seeb, Bausher and in Muttrah.

"As it was only light rains, the roads were not flooded. So, there were not too many major traffic jams, although traffic was blocked in some areas," drivers said.

Meanwhile, some of the wadis in the interiors started to overflow after a few hours of rainfall.

"We have got reports that wadis in different wilayats have started to overflow. But, there are no untoward incidents reported so far," Badar Al Baddaei, who runs www.rthmc.net, a website on weather conditions in Oman and the Gulf, told Times of Oman.

Meanwhile, the 48-hour outlook of the meteorological department says that skies over most of the Sultanate will be partly cloudy.

"There are chances of late night to early morning fog patches over some parts of governorates of Al Buraimi, Al Dhahira and Al Wusta," the weather forecast added.
