Muscat: The annual Bharath Scouts and Guides camp of Indian School Salalah for the year 2014 was held from 13th Feb 2014 to 14th Feb 2014 in the school campus. 204 Scouts & Guides and 20 Scout Masters & Guide Captains attended the camp.
During the introductory session Mrs. Ponni Bhaskar, In Charge of Scouts and Guides unit urged the participants to take the advantage of the camp to learn and excel in scouting during the camp. The scouts and guides were divided into 15 patrols.
The campfire was kindled by four S&G, representing the four cardinal directions. Students exhibited their talents through versatile cultural programmes such as dances, songs and skits. Scout Masters and Guide Captains conducted crafts, knots and singing sessions.
The second day started with B.P exercises followed by flag ceremony. All faith prayer was conducted to spread the message of "Universal brotherhood and peace". Group competitions were organized to encourage the participants.
The camp witnessed the gracious presence of Mr. Cyril Samuel, President of the School management committee, Vice President, Mr.Anil Kumar and Mr. John Rajamoney, Chairman, academic committee.
Mrs. Ponni Bhaskar, in-charge S&G unit welcomed the guests. Her report detailed the regular as well as the camp activities of the unit and also added the plan to train the Scouts & Guides to control the traffic near the school. The guests were honored with scarves by Mr. Showkath Ali, Scouts Master as a mark of joining them in the brotherhood.
Mr. Cyril Samuel, President School management committee emphasized on the importance of being socially committed and having strong determined desire to serve the society. Mr.Anil Kumar, Vice President, school management committee during his speech stressed on the importance of scouts and guides and their commitment towards the society. Mr John Rajamoney appreciated the scouts and guides and the teachers for their tremendous support and services rendered to the School. The camp imbued participants with the spirit of sharing and understanding. On the whole, the two day Camp activities ensured the overall development of the participants.
