Muscat: The month of April has a musical treat in store as popular Indian playback singer K. S. Chitra will be performing in a concert here on Friday, April 11 at Qurum Amphitheatre.
Majan Events Management, a Group company of Kaleem Enterprises, will host its most prestigious show titled NinaithaleIninkkum — hits of Ilayaraja, says a press release.
The event is being eagerly awaited by the Indian expatriate community, as it is going to present them with some of the best and most memorable songs composed by the great Indian film music director Ilayaraja.
Ilayaraja virtually ruled the south Indian film world as an undisputed composer and music director for over 25 years. His amazing mastery of both classical and folk music remains incomparable. Listening to his songs brings unbridled joy and utmost happiness to the listeners even after so many years. The audience of the show is certain to have a trip down the memory lane listening to the maestro's songs.
This programme will bring live on stage the living legend of Indian film industry and the most popular female playback singer Padmashri K. S. Chitra, who has rendered her melodious voice to several of Ilayaraja's hit songs. She has built up a formidable reputation as a playback singer for South Indian as well as Hindi films with her melodious voice.
She has over 11,000 songs in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Bengali and Oriya to her credit. She is one singer who has successfully broken the North-South divide and blazed a trail of glory in both worlds. She has won many state awards and the national award for the best playback singer five times. The event will conducted by renowned compere B. H. Abdul Hameed. His legendary oratory skills and deep knowledge of Tamil language and Tamil films is sure to add great value to the event.
The orchestration will be done by Jeeva Raja Innisai Group and some of the singers are chosen from the troupe of Ilayaraja (all from Chennai) to add value to the show.
