Muscat: An agreement that Sayarti has signed for the distribution of the world renowned automotive brand Magneti Marelli in Oman will contribute greatly to the automotive sector in the country, according to both companies.

Oman is the first country in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) where the Magneti Marelli brand is launched, Edward L. Cummins, head of Parts and Service at Mopar, told 'Times of Oman' on the sidelines of the agreement signing ceremony here on Wednesday.

Magneti Marelli spare parts are being offered through Mopar to Sayarti, which is a subsidiary of Zubair Automotive Group, for sale to customers in Oman.

"We were looking for motivation and passion, and we saw it in Sayarti. The partnership will help the growth of the Mopar business and the whole automotive industry in Oman," he said.

Hi-tech systems
Magneti Marelli is an international group committed to the design and production of hi-tech systems and components for the automotive sector. With more than 38,000 employees, 85 production units, 12 R&D centres and 26 application centres, the group has a presence in 19 countries and supplies all the most important car makers in Europe, North and South America and Asia.

Magneti Marelli business areas are automotive lighting, powertrain, electronic systems, suspension systems, exhaust systems, plastic components and modules, after market parts and services, and motorsport.

Sayarti provides services through their auto care outlets. Services provided by Sayarti are vehicle servicing, tyre balancing, replacement and repair, wheel alignment, window tinting, polishing, painting and paint protection, installation of car audio systems and smart repair for all brands of cars.

Cummins said that Oman is a "nation of automobile enthusiasts, and customers in Oman will be receptive to Magneti Marelli products" given the company's technological excellence and value pricing.

Commenting on the agreement, he said that it is an open-ended partnership with performance clauses.
Cummins also said that the company plans to introduce its products in other GCC countries as well.

He said, "When you look at the Mopar business, there are two markets in the world that are the fastest growing. One is the GCC and the other one is China. The rapid growth that is going on in the GCC is incredible."

"We are looking forward to the launch of the brand in other GCC countries, including in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. We will probably have 12 distributors in the GCC before going to other Asian countries.

Competitive prices
Arun Kumar, general manager of Sayarti, said that the agreement will contribute significantly to the automotive sector in Oman given the quality, diversity, and competitive prices of the products that Magneti Marelli offers.

Kumar added that Sayarti is always making efforts to enhance the experience of its customers and "we are sure that customers in Oman will warmly welcome this partnership with Magneti Marelli, which is one of the leading brands in the automotive industry."

At Sayarti the customer comes first, he noted, adding that the company delivers the best range of automotive products. Magneti Marelli spare parts will be available throughout the Sayarti wholesale and sub-dealer network and also through the auto care outlet in various parts of Muscat.
