More rains help raise underground water levels in Oman

Muscat: Higher rainfall in the various governorates during the first quarter of this year has contributed to an increase in the quantity of water level in the dams as well underground water.  

The Wadi Daiqa Dam retained during the first quarter of the year 31. 440 million cubic metres, leading to overflow at 30 cms above the edge of the dam, as of April 21.

Wadi Daiqa Dam in the Wilayat of Quriyat in Muscat Governorate, is one of the water projects executed to develop and ensure sustainability of water resources.  Designed in accordance with the best engineering criteria and international specifications, the Wadi Daiqa Dam attracts tourists from within and outside the Sultanate.

During the period, the dam has already attracted 165,300 visitors including students from government and private colleges and schools in the Muscat Governorate.
