Raysut Industrial Estate in Oman outlines future expansion plan

Salalah: The number of industrial, service and commercial projects at Raysut Industrial Estate stood at 116 as of the end of 2013 including 56 projects that have already started operation, 26 under construction and 25 for which land plots have been already allocated.

Said bin Ali al-Mashani, Director General of Raysut Industrial Estate  said in a statement that the Estate plays an important role in attracting investments, generating job opportunities, utilising local resources, meeting the local demand and increasing the Omani exports.

He added in a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) that in mid-2012 the tender for completing the infrastructure of the new expansions were floated in a bid to meet the need of industrial investors. By the end of 2013, 95 per cent of the works were completed and the project is expected to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2014.

He added that the Estate  implements a number of key projects, the most important to which is the logistic area, which extends over 300,000 square metres to serve the different trade, service, industrial and supportive services activities.

"Work is underway at a new industrial estate in the wilayat of Thumrait on about four million square metres to keep pace with the expansion in mineral-based added value projects and meet the needs of oil and gas companies with special focus on agricultural products processing industries.

Established in November 1992, Raysut Industrial Estate is located in Oman's southern region of Dhofar.  It is four kilometres from the strategically placed Port of Salalah, the only port between Europe and Singapore that can accommodate the S-class – the world's largest class of container vessel.
