Al Minhaj International sweep into semis of Omantel Ramadan Cricket Tournament

Muscat: With two wins under their belt Al Minhaj International made it to the semifinals of the Omantel Ramadan Cricket Tournament along with Assarain who were the first to book a berth in the last four stage, currently under way at Pakistan School Muscat.

Sunday night, Al Minhaj International beat Asad XI A by 13 runs and then went on to beat Al Urooj by 4 runs in a match that went down to the wire.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first Al Minhaj International made 113 for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 8 overs.

Naveed Abdul Majid with 62 runs (23 balls 5 sixes, 6 fours), Khawar Ali 13 runs were the main contributors.

Mohammad Nadeem was the main wicket-taker with 4 for 20.

Needing 114 runs to win Asad XI in reply managed to make 100 for the loss of 2 wickets in the stipulated 8 overs.

Imran 63 not out (32 balls 6 sixes, 2 fours) was not enough to overcome the total posted by Al Minhaj International.

The wickets to fall were claimed by Mazhar with 2 for 20 and Rashid 1 for 20.

In the other match played at the same venue Al Minhaj International won the toss and elected to bat scoring 122 for the loss of 6 wickets in 8 overs. Naveed Abdul Majid was once again in good nick top scored 48 (17 balls 5 sixes, 2 fours), and was well supported by Naveed Mushtaq wo contributed with 21 (14 balls). Ansar Raza took 2 for17.

Requiring 123 for victory Al Urooj in reply managed to make a fight of it scoring 118 for the loss of 2 wickets in 8overs.

Faizan Mohammed with 57 not out (22 balls 6 sixes, 3fours) and Chetan Maliya 21 (12 balls) were the top run-getters.

The wickets to fall were shared by Mazhar Alam 1for 14 and Mahran Khan1for 28.

Faizan Mohammed was declared man of the match.
